Took a walk with a bobcat yesterday.

As amazing as that sounds, it's actually true.

A bobcat walked beside me - me on a road/trail - him/her in the desert beside the road, 20 feet from me.

We walked in pace for around 5 minutes, when the bobcat began stalking, fixated on something ahead.

I finally spotted the small cottontail bunny the bobcat so easily saw.

The bobcat settled under a huge mesquite tree with low-hanging branches sweeping down to the desert floor.  The bunny was under the same tree, near the trunk, and nibbling on tiny edibles littering the sand.

I sat, watching them both, for 20 minutes.  Part of me was hoping I'd witness an exciting pounce and kill.  The bobcat sauntering away with a quivering bunny dangling from it's mouth.

Another part of me was hoping the bunny would outrun the bobcat.

During my 20-minute wait, the bobcat sat crouched, tail flickering, sometimes inching forward toward the bunny.

20 minutes may be nothing for a bobcat to wait, but it was too long for me.

I left the pair of predator and prey, drama to be played out in the minutes or hours beyond.

Another dramatic event - happening all online - is the 2012 Tapping World Summit.  It's starting April 16 and is entirely free.
